 Care and Maintenance

LEXTON® is a non-porous stain-resistant solid surface and is ideal for kitchen tops, vanity tops, tub and shower enclosures and other surfaces subject to moisture. Periodic maintenance of your LEXTON® surface will ensure optimum beauty and longevity. While LEXTON® is extremely tough and durable, like any other fine material it can be damaged if abused or mistreated. With a little knowledge, you can enjoy the elegance and beauty of LEXTON® for years to come.

REGULAR CARE AND CLEANING
Regular washing will help maintain the look and finish of your LEXTON® countertop. Wash your countertop with a mild detergent and water to remove mealtime soil and grime. Mild abrasives such as Soft Scrub® are ideal for maintaining the sheen and removal of fine scratches. For tough or stubborn situations, follow our chart of recommended cleaning procedures. For sanitization, we recommend the use of antibacterial cleaners or wipes.

SIMPLE PRECAUTIONS
Even though LEXTON® has an excellent heat resistant property compared with other ordinary countertops, placing hot pans as well as some heat-generating appliances such as electric fry pans or crock pots can damage a LEXTON® surface. Do not place hot pans directly from the burner or oven on the LEXTON® surface. Always use a hot pad or a trivet with rubber feet to protect LEXTON®.

Strong chemicals such as those found in drain cleaners; toilet bowl cleansers; and floor and finish strippers should be kept away from contact with your LEXTON® surface. These items, when left on the surface, may cause color or surface damage which can be difficult to repair. Surfaces exposed to these chemicals should be promptly flushed with water.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
Periodically it may also be helpful to go over the entire surface in a circular motion with an abrasive cleaner or wet Scotch Brite® pad to maintain a uniform appearance, and remove surface scratches. If you have a matte finish, abrasive cleaners such as Ajax® or Comet® may also be used. While most every day spills can be removed with the cleaning techniques listed, some troublesome spills and stains such as; food dye, tea and fruit drinks may require more aggressive cleaning. Refer to the Recommended Cleaning Products and Test Results chart (below) for a guide on specific situations. Nicotine stains or scorch marks can be removed by cleaning with an abrasive cleaner or buffing in a circular motion with a Scotch Brite® pad.

To repair scratches follow one of the following techniques depending on the finish of your LEXTON® countertop. You may also contact your local LEXTON® Certified Fabricator who can provide professional service.

In case of a matte finish:
Sand with 180-grit(120 micron) or 220-grit(60 micron) fine sandpaper until the cut and scratch is removed; restore finish with an abrasive cleanser and a green Scotch Brite® pad to the same finish as the adjacent surface.

In case of a semi-gloss finish:
Sand with 400-grit(30 micron) sandpaper; restore finish with a non-abrasive cleanser and a white Scotch Brite® pad.

In case of a high-gloss finish
Sand with 400-grit(30 micron) sandpaper; Sand with 600-grit(20 micron) sandpaper; buff with polishing compound and a low speed (1500-2000 rpm) polisher equipped with a wool pad; finish with wax.
